I am delighted to welcome Holly Webb to Bookbabblers today. Holly’s latest book A Tiger Tale is out now.
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I’ve been writing for about eleven years now – I started when I was working as an editor for a children’s publisher. I have three children, three cats, and I’m terrified of spiders.
Please tell us about A Tiger Tale and your inspiration for the book:
Lots of things came together in this book. I’d noticed over the last couple of years how many of my children’s friends were picked up from school by their grandparents, so I wanted to write about the relationship between grandparent and child. I also wanted to bring in toys, and the way they can be so important and so real to us as children. And then one of my readers sent me a beautiful photo of a cat that looked so like a tiger…
What are you working on now?
A sequel to The Secret Garden – less of a sequel than a book inspired by the original. It’s been such a wonderful book to reread!
Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
Read – everything, even books you don’t think you’ll like. And never ever throw away any ideas!
What do you like to do outside of writing?
I run a Guide unit, and I love to cook (especially cake!) I also read a lot.
Thanks, Holly! Look out for our review, which is coming soon.
