Review of The Smug Pug by Anna Wilson

The Smug Pug is a delightful book by Anna Wilson.

Pippa Peppercorn loves to spend time at the local dog grooming salon with Dash the dachshund and his owner Mrs Fudge. When a new girl called Tallulah Foghorn starts at Pippa’s school, Pippa instantly wants to be friends as she spots a pug in Tallulah’s school bag. The pug is called Smug and he is very clever and even seems to help Pippa and Tallulah with answers for their school work. The only problem is that Dash the dachshund is not quite sure what to make of Tallulah and Smug.

There are two previous books in this series (The Poodle Parlour and The Dotty Dalmation), but this book reads well as a standalone story.

This is a wonderful book that is beautifully illustrated. The characters in this book, both humans and dogs, are so funny that I was laughing out loud in places. I would particularly recommend it for any dog fans, as you will fall in love with the canine characters in this story.
