The Snow Bear is a wonderful book by Holly Webb.
It follows young Sara who is staying with her grandfather. Sara is feeling homesick when she awakens to see that snow has fallen overnigh. Her excitement turns to panic when she realises that it may mean that she won’t be able to get home to her parents for Christmas. To cheer her up, her Grandfather builds an igloo from the snow and Sara makes a snow bear.
Sara and her Grandfather wrap up warm and sit inside the igloo with some sandwiches. Sara’s grandfather tells the story of when he was little and went to the arctic with his father. There they met inuit families and a baby polar bear who they named Peter.
This is a lovely story complete with beautiful illustrations and a stunning cover. The perfect book to put under the tree this christmas.
