Sixteen year old Amy holds a lot on her young shoulders and is the main carer for her Mum as well as studying at school. When her best friend calls to tell her about a baby that was abandoned on their doorstep, Amy acts shocked but she knows more about the baby boy than anyone. Will Amy keep this secret or reveal what she knows about the mystery baby.
Amy’s character is beautifully portrayed and I felt very sorry for her being so young and having to make so many difficult decisions. This is a beautifully written book with a captivating and heart wrenching storyline that I found difficult to put down.
Writing in the Sand is an outstanding debut, which covers a number of serious issues including teenage pregnancy, adoption and child carers. I really enjoyed reading this book and will look out for future books from this author.
